Hydroseeding
Hydroseeding is a process of mixing seed, fertilizer, tackifier and wood or paper fiber-mulch with water in correct proportions inside a tank, then spraying the mixture onto designated areas. PLH Erosion Control Services Inc. recommends using wood mulch, as it is a far superior product because it holds the moisture longer than paper mulch. The reason hydroseeding works so well is the seed is suspended in nutrient rich slurry. The mulch layer seals in the moisture and holds the grass seed in place and acts like a mini-greenhouse effect.
Hydroseeding provides flexibility for any project needing different varieties of grasses while at the same time being completely environmentally friendly.
Spray-on Erosion Control Blankets
There are currently several products on the market that are specially designed to eliminate the use of the old style roll out blanket, that is then stapled to the ground. A substitute spray-on erosion control blanket gives you a better result as it follows the direct contour of the land, safer to apply, and is more cost effective. Spray-on Erosion Control Blankets are an excepted equivalents, as per Alberta Infrastructure specifications.
FGM Spray-on Erosion Control Blankets
Flexible Growth Medium (FGM) is designed with blended wood fibers, crimped man-made fibers and additives that are engineered to perform under extreme conditions. FGM provides superior protection up to 18 months. This patented technology requires no cure time and provides superior slope protection. Plus, it can be combined with other erosion control technologies such as turf reinforcement mats to accommodate a broad range of conditions.
